WWU  Western   Equestrian Team   HuntSeat
MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the WWU Equestrian Team is to provide students with an interest in horses the opportunity to meet other "horse people," share horse-related activities, skills and opportunities. Our focus is to improve riding and horsemanship skills in both Western and English styles. Members can compete in Regional horse shows against other teams through the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and are provided the horses and tack to do so. We encourage good sportsmanship in competition, friendly interaction, and cooperation between competing equestrian teams. Riders of all levels from walk-trot to open/advanced riders in both English and Western are encouraged to try-out and are desired to make the team a well rounded and competitive sport. Above all, our goal is to have fun, learn from each other, ride well, and win at horse shows!

IHSA team riders are selected through tryouts held twice a year. Many riders who are not showing regularly still practice with the team to get ready to show. You don't have to be a team rider to contribute to this club. We have many events: fundraisers, group excursions, putting on horse shows, keeping team and individual points, etc. that need help! Riders of all levels from walk-trot to open/advanced riders in both English and Western are needed to ride for team points at horse shows, so every rider is encouraged to try-out.
